Privacy Policy
Last updated October 11, 2026
This policy explains how the Surf Tracking apps for iPhone and Apple Watch and this website handle personal data. Surf Tracking is developed by Anton Yezub, an individual developer based in Indonesia, who is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: hello@surftracking.app.
Summary
- There are no accounts. You don’t sign up or log in.
- Your sessions, GPS tracks and settings are stored on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don’t keep a copy on our servers.
- Apple Health data is used only to show your own statistics. It is never sold, shared with third parties or used for advertising.
- There are no ads, and we never sell personal data.
Data stored on your devices
The app stores your sessions on your iPhone and Apple Watch: the GPS track, detected waves and their statistics, ratings, which waves you switched off, and your settings such as units and wave-detection thresholds. A session recorded on the watch is sent to your iPhone directly over Apple’s Watch Connectivity. This data stays until you delete a session or the app.
Location
While a session is recording, Apple Watch uses GPS to record your track and detect rides. Location is not collected when you’re not recording, is not used for advertising or tracking, and is not shared with us or any third party. To show map snapshots, the app requests satellite imagery from Apple Maps for the area of your session; Apple handles these requests under its privacy policy.
Apple Health
If you allow it, the app reads heart rate, active energy burned, resting energy burned and workouts from Apple Health to show heart-rate charts, zones and energy for your sessions, and saves surfing workouts and workout routes (the GPS track of the session) to Apple Health. You choose exactly which types to allow in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Surf Tracking, and you can change this at any time.
Health data stays on your devices and in Apple Health. We don’t send it to our servers, don’t use it for advertising or marketing, don’t sell it and don’t share it with third parties.
Purchases
Apple processes payments for Surf Tracking Pro. We receive the subscription status needed to unlock Pro features, but never your payment details or your Apple Account name or email.
Diagnostics you choose to send
If you’ve agreed to share analytics with app developers in iOS settings, Apple shares crash reports and usage statistics with us in anonymous form. If you tap Send logs in Settings, the app opens an email with technical logs attached. Nothing is sent unless you send that email.
Sharing and exports
When you share a session image or export a track, the file goes only where you send it through the iOS share sheet.
Support
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use them only to reply.
Website analytics
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits and page views. Vercel processes information such as the page visited, referrer, approximate location, browser, operating system and device type to provide aggregate statistics. This analytics service does not use cookies. App sessions, GPS tracks and Apple Health data are not sent to website analytics. Learn more in Vercel’s analytics privacy documentation.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
We process data to provide the service you asked for (recording and showing sessions, unlocking purchases), with your consent where iOS asks for it (location, Apple Health), and on our legitimate interest in answering support requests.
Retention
- Sessions and settings: on your devices until you delete them or the app.
- Apple Health data: in Apple Health, under your control.
- Support emails: deleted when no longer needed.
Your choices and rights
- Location: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Apple Health: iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
- Subscription: manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.
- Delete a session in the app, or delete the app to remove all local data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to restrict or object to processing and to withdraw consent. Because there are no accounts, we hold very little that can identify you; write to hello@surftracking.app and we’ll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent where they live. If you think a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If our practices change, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app.
